The Ponderosa Series
In the before times of 2019 I found a downed old growth ponderosa tree out in the forest in the public lands surrounding Flagstaff. Its root structure had burned out underground from a prescribed burn when the forest service was thinning and doing preventative fire work. The tree had a 30" diameter. I used a 'dead-and-down' permit to remove the wood and used some of the cutoffs for firewood.
My buddy and I took a couple chainsaws out and harvested rough billets in the forest, about a quarter mile from the dirt service road. I processed large quartered blanks and waxed the ends at home; it's been drying ever since. This wood is well conditioned now and we've started prepping body blanks for a special run of Tellurion models.
Fun fact, Leo made some of the original Fender prototypes out of pine back in the 1950's. So, this project is a nod to the history of the Broadcaster which became the Telecaster, my favorite electric guitar design of all time and the inspiration for the Tellurion model. It's also an ode to the beauty of Flagstaff, home of Solstice Guitars.
We're planning to have the first batch of these ready by the end of the year. If you're interested you can reserve yours by making a deposit here.
A New Acoustic Model
You may be aware of the acoustic model I've been refining for years now, the Ecliptic. I've always loved small body guitars that sound big and surprising. But I also love the volume, depth, and richness of large body acoustics. We're finally ready to introduce the next acoustic model by Solstice, called the Precession. It's designed similar to a Gibson Advanced Jumbo, or a modified J45, but with a slightly wider bout and a deeper body... and different wood options.
We have two of these new guitars underway. If you are interested in being the first to own one of these new models, make contact with me or make a deposit today!
